Sentences ( वाक्य )
Defination : – A Sentence is a group of word which makes a complete sense is called a sentence.
For Example – 1. Abhay reads a book.
- Gitansh sings a song.
Parts of Sentence : –
A Sentence has two main parts – the ‘subject’ & the ‘ Predicate’. The subject must contain a noun or a pronoun and the predicate must contain a verb.

Subject : – The person or thing about which something is said ,is called the subject.
Example – 1. Ram is a good boy.

Predicate : – what ever is said about the subject is called the predicate.
Example – 1. Ram is a good boy.
A Subject may be classified as –

First Person : – one who speaks . As – I ,we.

Second Person : – one who listens. As – you
-
Third Person : -The person spoken about is called the third person . As – he, she, it etc.
Kinds of Sentence : –

Assertive sentence : – the sentence which states something showing affirmation or denial is called assertive sentence.
Example- 1. Boys are playing football. 2. I do not take tea in the morning.
- Interrogative sentence : – A sentence which asks a question about something is called an interrogative sentence. Example – 1. What is your name?
- Imperative sentence : – A sentence which express a command , request or a prohibition is called an imperative sentence. Example – 1.Sit down and read your book. (Command) 2.Please give me your book.(Request) 3.Do not smoke. (Prohibition)
4.optative sentence : – A sentence which shows a wish or prayer is an optative sentence.
Example – 1. May you live long. (Wish) 2. May God bless you.(Prayer)
5.Exclamatory Sentence (!) : – A Sentence which express a sudden feeling of mind is called an exclamatory sentence.
Example – 1. Alas ! Rohit is dead.
2. Hurrah ! we have won the match
