SOME IMPORTANT  PREPOSITIONS 

10.Since : – IT is used to show the definite point of time.

Ex – 1. I have been  reading since morning.

  1. she has been suffering from fever since Monday.
11.For : –  (1) it is used to before noun or Phrase to show period of time.

Ex – 1. I have been read nothing for five days.

  1. he has been coming here for four days.

(2) Any thing to exchange –

Ex – 1. He bought house for six thousand rupees.

(3) to show any aim –

Ex – 1. I went out for a walk.

(4) for is used for an indefinite period –

Ex –  1. He has gone for a long time.

  1. He is on leave for a month.

12.From : – (1)  It show the time but not with in tense.

Ex – 1. I started to read from Monday.   2. Ram works from morning to evening.

3.I studied English from the age of six.

(2) to show person or things in separate conditions.

Ex – 1. He cut a branch from the tree.        2.the boy fall from the roof.

(3.) to show future plane / time –

Ex – 1.your examination will start from 2nd March.

2.he will go to college from Monday.

(4) In Hindi sense say to show place.-

Ex –  1.where do you come from ?

2.He is from Mumbai?

(5) to show source –

Ex – 1. This passage is taken from the text book.

2.The rays come from the sun.`

13.Besides : –  It means “ In addition to “

Ex – 1. He has a scooter besides a car.

2.he has written two  short stories besides a novel.

  1. Besides being punished he was friend.
  2. Besides the girl there were boys also.

 

14.Beside : –  It means “By the side of “.

Ex – 1. He sat beside me.

  1. The house is standing beside the sea.

3.he come and stood beside me.
